Kisenyi, located in the central business district of Kampala, is a densely populated slum that boasts over 100,000 residents. This Slum is mainly occupied by Somali refugees, Ethiopians, and Eritreans. The challenges of such a high population density are evident in the cramped living quarters where families often share small spaces with no access to basic amenities. In addition, the lack of proper sanitation facilities has led to a variety of health issues and concerns related to hygiene. Despite these challenges, Kisenyi remains an important part of Kampala’s urban landscape and efforts are being made to improve the living conditions for all who reside there.Kisenyi Slum
It’s sometimes referred to as the “Little Mogadishu” by Somali refugees. Unfortunately, the area has become notorious for its congested housing and inadequate sanitation facilities which have made living conditions extremely difficult for those who call it home.
