The Kisenyi Slum Tour

The Kisenyi slum is found in the middle of Kampala downtown bordering the outskirts of Nakasero Hill, Mengo Hill and old Kampala hill. The place is characterized by a mix of many languages spoken in Uganda, Somalia, Tanzania, Rwanda and Ethiopia.

Katanga Slum Tour

The Katanga Slum is a settlement located in the valley between Mulago Hospital and Makerere University, in Uganda’s capital city, Kampala. Katanga slum stretches about 1.5 kilometres from Wandegeya to Kubiri, near Bwaise. Katanga is divided into two administrative Local Council 1 zone, “Busia zone” and “Kimwanyi zone”. It is developed with students hostels as viewed from Wandegeya, and temporary structures built with timber or mud and bricks. The temporary structures are mostly close to Mulago hospital.

Katwe Slum Tour

The Katwe slum is located in Makindye Division, bordered by Nakasero to the north, Nsambya to the east, Kibuye and Makindye to the southeast, Ndeeba to the south and Mengo to the west. The residential areas of Katwe have been a slum, right from when human habitation started to appear along the railway tracks leading from Kampala to Kasese in the first half of the 20th century. Bwaise Slum Tour

The Bwaise slum, is one of the largest slums in Uganda, found in Kawempe Division on the outskirts of Makerere University hill.  Walking through the paths of Bwaise slum, you will be welcomed with lots of busy shops, ubiquitous motorcycle, and a community of crumbling structures that compete for non-existent space. The lack of developed infrastructure and poor service provision has exposed the town dwellings and residents to several challenges including flooding and water borne diseases.

Kamwokya slum Tour

Kamwokya slum is located within the city of Kampala. It is bordered by Kololo hill, kyebando hill, bukoto hill and Mulago hill. Kamwokya has been popularized by Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine in many of his songs, as the place where he grew up and managed to overcome the challenges to become a national leader. The headquarters of the National Unity Platform, Uganda’s leading opposition platform are found in this area.

Kasanvu slum Tour

The Kasanvu slum is just a stone’s throw away from the center of Kampala, Uganda’s capital. Kasanvu zone in kisugu makindye a scrolling slum, mud water houses shack, and narrow mud field Len. Kasanvu is a residential area for mostly low-income earners and one of the biggest concerns is the shortage of toilets for the population of about 1800 people. Currently, there are only two public toilets available as a result, most people here are forced to dump human wastes on Rubbish hips.
